Old US 1/Friendship Road/Holland Road Traffic SignalsHollandFriendship

This project involves a public/private partnership between Beazer Homes and Town of Apex.  The work will include 2 new traffic signals, which are to be constructed following proposed road widening along Old US 1, Friendship Road, and Holland Road in conjunction with The Summit development.  The Old US 1 road improvements include adding a westbound left turn lane at Friendship Road, a westbound right turn lane at Holland Road, and an eastbound left turn lane at Holland Road.  Friendship Road and Holland Road will both be widened to provide separate left turn and right turn lanes onto Old US 1.  

  • Status (02/02/26): Roadway plans and traffic signal plans are approved and construction of road widening has started with anticipation of completion in summer 2026. Apex is proceeding with acquisition of additional right of way for traffic signal equipment required prior to installation.
