Message from the Chief
First, I want to thank you for visiting our website. We take great pride in our ability to connect with the public, and this site is a great source of information for anyone looking to learn more about the Apex Police Department (APD). We hope that you find our website valuable, educational, informative and insightful. Please take advantage of the many ways to get in contact with us with any questions, concerns, or recommendations you may have on how we can better connect and serve the Apex community. Also, our social media platforms are a great way to stay engaged with what we have going on.
Let me start by saying it is an honor to lead this award-winning police department. The women and men of this department provide exceptional service, around the clock, for all the residents, businesses, and visitors of Apex. The question I have received the most since joining the department is, “Why Apex?” For starters, its location and proximity to family. My wife and I both grew up in Fayetteville, and our parents are still located between Raleigh and Fayetteville. The opportunity to spend more time with family and for our kids to have that experience as well, was something that was extremely important to us. The second reason was the growth and quality of life available in the Triangle area. There is a reason the Triangle area is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country. With that growth comes challenges and opportunities for innovation and creation and that was very appealing to me. The third reason, and most relevant, was seeing and hearing what APD and the community was going through in the aftermath of the cultural assessment and feeling that my experiences, qualifications and skill set was a great fit for the work that lies ahead in this community.
So, who is Jason Armstrong? I am a husband, a father, a son, a friend, a brother, and then a Police Chief. I firmly believe that who I am, before I put on the uniform, fuels the leader I strive to be in my role as Police Chief. My goal for APD is to strengthen our community connectedness to ensure that we are reaching every corner of the community and that all members of the Apex community feel safe and a sense of peace, no matter what part of the community they reside or visit. I feel we can achieve this goal by forging new community partnerships and exploring new ideas and ways to connect and communicate with community stakeholders to ensure we stay informed of community needs. For APD to be at the forefront of community policing, we have to stay engaged with our diverse community and identify ways we can all work together to ensure Apex remains, “The PEAK of Good Living.” APD cannot accomplish this alone, and we will be calling upon the community at large to be a partner with us in this effort.
The women and men of this department need your support. Support comes in many different forms. When we are doing a good job, please share that with us so we get the needed confirmation that we are doing the things they community wants to see from us. When we don’t meet your expectations, we need your support in aiding and assisting us to be better informed of how we could improve what we are doing. The only way this works is if we are able to have open, honest dialogue with one another. It is unlikely that we will always agree on everything, but we can always agree to be respectful and considerate of what others are experiencing and feeling and we can always work together for positive outcomes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and I look forward to connecting with you in the near future.
Chief Jason Armstrong
