Environmental Advisory Board (EAB)
Purpose and Duties
The Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) was initially created in September 2019 and the scope of responsibilities were expanded in 2025. The charge of EAB is to assist the Town Council in strengthening environmentally responsible practices that protect, promote, and nurture our community and the natural world through advice and program support. Specific duties and powers are outlined in Chapter 2, Article IV. of the Town's Code of Ordinances.

Meetings Details
Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month beginning at 6:00p.m. in the 2nd floor Council Chamber in Town Hall, located at 73 Hunter Street. All meetings are now in-person with a public livestream, which is accessible on the Town of Apex YouTube page.

Members
The Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) shall consist of eleven (11) voting members, including one youth representative as defined by the Resident Advisory Board Administrative Policy. All members shall be recommended by the Mayor and appointed by the Town Council. Members shall be appointed for two-year (2) terms, except the voting youth representative which shall have a term of one-year.

Review of Rezoning Applications
The Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) offers a list of Suggested Environmental Zoning Conditions, which is a general list of suggested rezoning conditions for applicants to consider before filing a Conditional Rezoning or Planned Unit Development (PUD) application. Most applications for rezoning and PUD are required to be reviewed by the Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) before public hearings are held by the Planning Board and Town Council. Exceptions to this requirement can be found in the Town's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Section 2.1.9.A.2.
