New!  Wander App

Outdoor adventure seekers and casual explorers alike now have a new way to explore the beauty and breadth of the area with the launch of the Wander Wake County app! This free, easy-to-use web or mobile app highlights the destination’s extensive network of more than 300 miles of greenways and trails and over 138,000 acres of open space land. The county-wide initiative centralizes data between the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Raleigh), Triangle Trails Initiative (TTI) and parks departments throughout Wake County, aimed at delivering an integrated trail mapping experience that helps residents and visitors explore and enjoy our beautiful public spaces, alongside local businesses and other community amenities. Users can utilize the new interactive map to search and save areas of interest and create park itineraries across Wake County.

 Other Greenway Resources

  • American Tobacco Trail: Built on an abandoned railroad corridor, the ATT spans 22+ miles from Apex to Durham. The Town of Apex has more miles of the ATT in our town limits than any other Wake County community.
  • Town of Cary: Use the search term greenways to access information about trails located in Cary, some of which are connected with Apex trails.
  • Bicycle and Pedestrian System Plan Map: This map incorporates existing and proposed bicycle and pedestrian facilities as shown in the Parks, Recreation, Greenways and Open Space Master Plan, Bike Apex and Advance Apex Transportation Plans. The facilities shown on the map include Greenways, Street-side Greenways, Side Path, Sidewalk, and Bike Lanes.
