On April 29th, Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert issued a proclamation extending our State of Emergency and aligning Apex with the latest State executive order issued by Governor Roy Cooper. The executive order extends the stay at home order through May 8th, followed by a three-phased approach to lifting restrictions.
Previously, Apex was subject to Wake County’s ordinance which expires on April 30th. Wake County will also now fall under the State’s guidelines, just under a separate declaration.
"Having one proclamation State of Emergency Order for Apex will hopefully address the level of confusion for all involved," stated Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert.
"While our order is consistent with the state, this will allow for more efficient administrative changes that will be in the best interest of Apex citizens, business owners and stakeholders moving forward. As leaders of all municipalities in Wake County make decisions on the opening of parks and other amenities for their respective communities, which in many cases can differ, this proclamation will bring clarity for our citizens."
