ORIGINAL POST - AUGUST 3rd
Maintenance repairs have required the N.C. Department of Transportation to close Apex Barbecue Road over Beaver Creek near Apex. On Wednesday, Aug. 2, during a routine inspection, engineers identified immediate repairs that need to be made to make the bridge safe.
Motorists should use Olive Chapel and Kelly roads to go around the closure. The bridge is expected to reopen in one to two weeks. More details about the closure can be found at DriveNC.gov, the department’s webpage for real-time traffic information.
The NCDOT plans to replace the bridge in 2018.
