Pleasant Park (Future)

In early 2015, the Town purchased approximately 92 acres of land near the intersection of I-540 and Old US Highway 1 for use as a future park.

Currently being designed by Withers and Ravenel, the approved concept incorporates elements desired by the public, expressed during public workshops and comment sessions. The conceptual design includes the following amenities:

  • 6 multi-use fields for programs such as lacrosse and soccer
  • 4 baseball / softball fields
  • 6 tennis courts
  • Cross country course
  • Multiple picnic shelters
  • Outdoor basketball
  • Sand volleyball
  • Large greenspace for passive recreation or open play
  • 1.25 acre amenity area with inclusive playgrounds, splash pad, interpretive areas and more.
The conceptual design was fully vetted and unanimously approved by the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Advisory Commission, and by the Town Council in January 2016.

There is no current funding identified for the construction of Pleasant Park.
