Bulk Item Collection

The town's Public Works Department offers the Bulk Item collection service to remove large household items from the curb, for a fee.

How it Works

  1. Make the request: To schedule a bulk item pickup, complete an online service request, or contact Customer Service at (919) 362-8676. Please note: This service is not available for businesses or apartments.
  2. Check your email: You will receive an email within 1-2 business days with your scheduled collection day. Please note: Only mattresses and box springs are collected on Fridays.
  3. Place your item at the curb: All items must be placed at the curb by 6 am on the scheduled pick up day. (Staff will not enter private property, so items cannot be placed anywhere except for the curb.)

Things to Know

  • Carpet: In general, a 12-foot by 12-foot piece of carpet is considered one item, and multiple rooms of carpet are charged by the load.
  • Breakable Items:  Please place fragile / breakable items (like toilets, mirrors, etc.) into a box, or wrap with plastic, to contain any pieces that may break during collection.
  • Mattresses: Mattresses and box springs are only collected on Fridays, and are considered two separate items. If you have additional items, they will be scheduled for collection on a separate day.
  • White Goods: Items like dishwashers, refrigerators, and other large appliances cannot be combined into a load price.
  • Moving Boxes: We offer a one-time, free of charge, box pick up for new residents. Select 'Box Pickup' on this form to request that service. Boxes should be stacked at the curb. Customers will incur bulk trash charges if the moving boxes are not completely empty and flattened.
